The annual ICAST is a tradition initiated 19 years ago by the Chinese American professionals in the Greater Chicago area. This annual gathering provides an international forum for the presentation and discussion of the latest developments and trends in biological, chemical and physical sciences, and their related technologies. Scientists, industrial practitioners as well as policy makers come together for a full day of the free exchange of ideas with the aim to promote cross-field interactions and collaboration among academic and industrial participants. This year¡¦s meeting will be held on September 18, 2004, in the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center at 833 South Wood Street, Chicago, IL 60612. This year¡¦s program will focus on ¡§Biotechnology: Basic Sciences and Future Applications¡¨. The program will cover, but is not limited to, the following three topics:

(A)     Bio-informatics and Bio-metrics

¡P      bio-sensors

¡P      bio-chips
